Is the automatic gearbox on the 1.4 Pug 206 a proper auto box or one of those robotised manuals like the Citroen Sensodrive, Alfa Selespeed and Vauxhall Easytronic? I always find those automated manuals so lumpy to drive, either gently around town or on a spritied drive through the countryside. They always change gear at the wrong time and do so with all the smoothness of a brick yoghurt.

It is a first generation gearbox, not one of those new "tronic" ones.
Comfortable to drive but not sporty.

Its a conventional three speed auto box, with economy and sport settings. Change is as good as any other comparable hatchback.
