Lake Ontario is the farthest East.

I grew up in Rochester, New York, not far from the lake.

Buffalo is on the western end of Ontario, Syracuse is near the Eastern end and Rochester is in the middle.

Its only about 17 miles across the Lake from Rochester to Toronto, Canada. There used to be a ferry in-between but it stopped running when I was a child.

My family loved the Lake. We went to the beach in summer; went boating nearly year-round; and we enjoyed cross-coutry skiing early (because of the lake-effect snow).

The area south of the Lake is apple-country. The lake weather is great for growers there.
