I was wondering, an embryo wouldn't live that long without nourishment since it's more vulnerable or whatever the word is..So if the mom stopped eating, how long would it be for the embryo to abort itself..If that makes sense....if it's even possible...just wondering, no reason in particular

It wouldnt work, the embryo would just take nourishment anyway and use the mothers fat stores. If you are pregnant get medical advice, dont leave it and try something stupid like your question;

Look darling - don't try to abort your own pregnancy by starving yourself... The way you are thinking is dangerous and scary! Sounds like you are desperate and need some help or advice. The embryo at this stage is just a bunch of cells that are multiplying to form a baby and will not need nourishment in the form of food. Even when people are sick, babies can still grow inside... It is only after the 1st 3 months that food intake probably even matters. Your problem is much more serious than that. You need to tell someone if you or your friend is/are pregnant and get it sorted out. Face up to what's happened and don't let this go on until it is too late. Talk to your Mum and work something out. She will understand. Everyone makes mistakes and deserves a chance to get it right next time. If you can't talk to her find another adult or a clinic to go to. This is just a glitch and a lesson and once you have an abortion you can put it all behind you and move on. When you get older you will forget it even happened and concentrate on having a positive future, having babies when you are mature enough and set up to handle it. Having an abortion is a serious matter and not to be taken lightly. But on the other hand it is not painful or frightening but boy oh boy, having a baby is... Best of luck

All I know is that would be mean.......and what goes around comes around. The embryo is an innocent life. The mother should've been more careful not to get pregnant and should be aware that she can be charged with child neglect for doing such a thing on purpose.....not to mention the punishment God will give her. And...last of all....the baby will feed off what ever it needs from the mom....leaving her fraile and un-nourished. I hope whoever would attempt such a thing thinks about that and grow up. She was grown enough to be having sex.....she needs to grow up and prepare for motherhood.

Odd question if it is for "no reason in particular", but no...it wouldn't necessarily abort itself. It will suck the mother dry to get he nourishment it needs. The mother would end up sick, dehydrated and probably in the hospital. It is very risky to mistreat your body when pregnant. I mean if a baby can survive a mother smoking crack through a pregnancy, it is capable of surviving most anything. I wouldn't recommend it!!

the BABY wouldnt die untill the mother did. They continually take everything from their mother, which causes the mother to be sick, not the baby. How do you think all those babies survice when their mums live on chocolate for 9 months??

If you dont want the baby, and abortion isn't an option, what about adoption?
You will be giving someone a precious little Angel that they are probably unable to concieve themselves.
Dont try and starve the baby, as it will only make you sick

If the mother stopped eating, it would be bad for the fetus obviously...but the mother would feel the effects as well. Clearly this is not a safe way to terminate an embryo. My guess is that it would take quite awhile, at the same time damaging the mother's body as well.

The vulnerability of the baby that is in the womb is so delicate that Mother Nature makes sure the mother provides for him/her before the mother. It take calcium for her bones and vitamins from her body to keep the baby safe and healthy. Therefore if you don't want the baby talk to a non-kill counselor that can set up an adoption and then the mother won't have to starve herself to death.

The baby would take nourishment from the mom and it would be very unhealthy for the mom.

If you are pregnant with an unwanted pregnancy and you don't want an abortion or the baby, perhaps adoption is the answer?

Is someone young and afraid to tell anyone their pregnant and therefore looking for alternatives to abortion?

There are hotlines in virtually every city that help young people with resources. And they can't tell your parents or anyone else. Look up a Planned Parenthood office - they are pro-choice which means they support the decision to either keep or abort a baby, depending on the mothers wishes.

Here is the website for the Toronto office: http://www.ppt.on.ca/

That wouldn't work. When you're pregnant the babie's body takes EVERY nutrient it needs before the body of the mother does. I guess it's to ensure the survival of the infant.

For example, if "that person" only ate tiny amount of food everyday ALL of the nutrients from the food would go to the fetus.

More than likely the mom would become very sick if she continued to do that and possible kill herself and the baby.
