Did you learn from your mistakes in the first marriage?.. Did you somehow feel cheated out of "marriage" because it was the second and you had already experienced it......just wondering.

I actually married somone who was on their second...................

The special-ness of the whole ceremony/reception was ZERO!!! I did not even bother w/ the expensive reception. "Basic, generic, let's get this done with" kind of day!

I just went thru the motions w/ a fake smile on my face!!!

Sure I feel cheated!!

My hubby and I are each in our 3rd marriage. The first time we were straight out of high school and got married cuz there was a baby on the way. The second time was more or less about sex...still young and dumb.

This time we knew what we needed to look for, what we needed to do, and how we needed to be to have a successful marriage and our marriage is great. I don't feel cheated at all.

Good question. I have been married only once (still am after 20 years), so I don't exactly have an answer from personal experience. However, I read an article today about what divorce lawyers say about marriage, and one thing they agreed on is that the reason for a great number of second marriage failures is because of people tending to choose partners who are like their first spouses. I thought that was pretty fascinating.

2nd definitely better than the first been married almost 24 years. The only thing I learned from the first marriage is not to marry someone like my first wife (a frigid, neurotic soul-eating demon from hell). Wife #2 is the exact opposite - not perfect, but, then I am not either. Never felt cheated with 2nd at all. Just "doing it over right"

My second marriage was HELL compared to the first. There were circumstances with the second wife that she kept secret until after the ceremony. So, second time doesn't mean perfection by a long shot.

I am on my second marriage and it is much better for us both, he to is on his second. I was married young and in the military he chose to have an alternative lifestyle and not keep his hands to his self. On second marriages you tend to take the faults from the first one and repair them, you know what you want and what you do not want. And for some of us it take a few toads for us to kiss before we get our prince.

I never felt cheated at all.... I love my husband VERY MUCH, I feel lucky to have found such an amazing guy. I got married young the first time. We were both very young and he realized AFTER we got married that he didnt want to be with JUST ONE woman forever. So I had to kick him out and move on.

(*laughter*) The first was bad enough that I've opted out of trying a second one. Since I don't want more children, and can support myself, I don't actually see the point in remarriage.
