I was lying in my bath today trying to relax, when i started to think about how much i hated my life and how i'm losing the man i love, i wanted to drown myself, just stopping the hurt, feelings, anxiety, pain and misery i feel everyday,i stopped myself knowing it would'nt be that easy. I always think about death and watch horror movies alot. How can i think positive when my brain fills me with constant negativity?

Try saying a prayer over and over again to yourself, like the "Serenity Prayer". Your mind can only think one thing at a time. However, if these thoughts last for a long period of time, like for more than two weeks, then maybe you should go to a doctor and have an anti-depressant prescribed. I was on an anti-depressant for awhile, and it helped immensely, I would also recommend counseling. I believe most states have organizations that work on a sliding scale, which means you could get counseling for not a lot of money.

Good luck, sweetie! Men are NOT worth dying for or being depressed over.

yeah depression will change the way you think very dramatically. there is a chemical root to the problem and you may be able to change your situation. I would suggest first changing your diet to the absolute best diet you can afford and taking a couple of supplements - quality multivitamin, fish oil pills, and cal-mag. make sure you're getting enough zinc. (it should be in the multi). There are other supplements that will help but it varies by individual. I think the above three should help a majority of people.

sit with sunlight on your face (no glass in between) every now and then for a half hour or so. get vigorous cardiovascular exercise once every week or two, and stay active most days. stay hydrated. be very mindful of how you use drugs, even the legal ones. (alcohol, caffeine) consider sugar to be a drug also. don't use artificial anything.

the psychiatrists have a set of drugs that we are prohibited from trying without giving them their cut of the money first. after you've done what you can on your own, consider going through that process if you have enough insurance. but be careful, those guys know even less than I do.

I have lived my life in and out of depression. Sometimes, I still get depressed, and for no reason.
What I do, is, get interested in a hobby, or craft.
Help other people.
I feel so much better when I help others. I feel so alive. It's a really awesome feeling.
Find out what is making you lose the man you love. If it's you, don't get mad, make changes in the way you do things and approach people.
You can only change yourself, but you have to first, decide you want to.
It's all in your attitude. You choose to be sad and depressed. Or you can choose to be happy.
Put on a happy face, go out, say nice things about others, even the man you love.
Before you know it, you will feel so much better, and it will show.
Change your style of clothing, the make up you wear, your hair color.
It also helps to keep a journal, that's the best earthly friend you will ever have.
Pray, God wants to be your friend too. He won't tell any of your secret feelings to any one.

Cheer up, it WILL be okay, I promise.

Please see your doctor TOMORROW, and tell them about these thoughts.

You are depressed, and you are probably having suicidal fantasies (these start very vague and can progress into very detailed plans). Depression can skew your perspective of the world beyond recognition.

When I was depressed, I felt like a helpless baby fastened into a high-chair, tipping over on its side until I no longer recognized what the "real" world looked like. This is a very dangerous place to be.

You need to talk to a counselor (your doctor can recommend one) about these feelings, and how long you've had them. They will be able to teach you new patterns of behavior, and provide meds if necessary. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Sometimes the body needs help in correcting itself.

Once you are out of the funk, you will then be able to CHOOSE being positive.

Good Luck! (and PLEASE call your doctor)

You need to see a doctor and until then you should spend time going out with your friends and making a life that you want to get up in the morning for. I know it's hard but I know from experience that you need to get busy and start enjoying life to come out of depression. Good Luck Hope that you feel better soon!

A lot of communities offer free hotlines for support. Maybe you should start by calling and talking to someone about your feelings and taking it further to a doctor from there if you are still feeling bad. It is easy to become depressed, but you shouldn't be afraid to ask for help!

Here is something i do. I start day dreaming to distract myself (at times i have to really push myself but it works for most part). I day dream about a life that i wish to have and if it turns out to be something not for me i start again i dream about something else...at times i have more than 5 stories in my head and the negativity usually goes away...as long as you don't stop thinking or talking about something positive.

Depression is both emotional and physiological.
Exercise is one of the best and cheapest treatments for depression.
B-vitamins also help, especially B3. It helps the sense of humor, too.
Before you go to bed at night, write down 3 things you have to be thankful for. When you wake up, read the list.
St. John's Wort, in the form of tea or capsules, can be helpful also.
I have depression also, and all of these have helped me.

Think in something nice. something besides your life or your 'love'. Do not let those fellings control you!! if you start thinking negative things, stop immediately and make yourself think something else, something you enjoy. find out a hobby you may like and ask for help (doctor).

Hope you feel better :)
