This is normal. I had this with my last two pregnancies. It's most likely due to pinched nerves and the extra pressure being added to that area. At 36 weeks especially the baby is really taking up space and squeezing everything in your system. It feels like your crotch is being burned and ripped off all day long.
I didn't find much of anything that would relieve the pain. I tried to stand with one leg in front of the other alot of the time and that helped a bit when I had to stand. Applying counter pressure is about the only thing that worked. It's one of those crappy things we have to just live with carrying our precious cargo.

Hello there - I don't think your doctor is giving you the sort of care you should be getting at this stage of your pregnancy. You should at least feel that they care about what you are telling you. I have had 3 pregnancies and never felt that much pain. I don't think that is usual and I would be getting a second opinion. Make a fuss - it's not just your body, it's the baby and you have a right to know what is going on.. It is normal to feel discomfort and some times it even feels like the baby is going to come out there is so much pressure. But I wouldn't have called it pain and if you are in tears I think there maybe something else going on. You're not in early labour are you. Don't take any crap from the doctor or nurses... get your questions answered to your satisfaction or keep on asking. You have only one chance to get it all right. Best of luck.

It is possible for your pubic bone to seperate, and when this happens, it's very painful. You should talk to the doctor again, or if he/she works with partners, try and get in to see one of them. Maybe someone else won't trivialize it so much. You can also buy a pregnancy belt. It is a wide belt (about 6 inches or more) made out of elastic. You velcro it under and around the lower part of your belly. It helps lift the baby and helps carry some of the weight for you. I wore one when I was pregnant with my twins, and loved it so much that I wore it also for my next pregnancy, which was a singleton. It helped a lot! You should be able to find one at a maternity store - I think I even saw one at Sears once. It would be worth the money, especially since you're in so much pain at 36 weeks. You still have about 4 weeks to go, and the baby will only be getting bigger and pressing down more.

Tell the doc again. It sounds like you have a crappy doc. It may be your hips spreading and the pelvic bone separating. Other than that I don't know what to tell you except it's almost over. Just a few more weeks. Doesn't help now but atleast there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I had this pain too but it was when i was about 22-24 weeks and it lasted only 2 days. Doctor said it was my pelvic spreading. Yours could actually be something like placenta previa (where the placenta separates too early from the uterus wall) but it is serious and I would think that your doctor would recognize this because it calls for c-section. You might not have that though because I think there is bleeding involved with that condition.Maybe you should demand an ultrasound to make sure nothing is going on. Good luck honey!

Don't know how many kids you have but if this is your first then start looking for your mucus plug or for your water to break. Trust me you will know the plug when you see it and you can't miss the water. =) All you are experiencing is pressure. I have 4 kids and I had that same problem with all of them. If this is your first you can find comfort in knowing that most doctors will consider inducing at 37 weeks so it's almost over. Hang in there, the reward is worth all the dues you are paying right now. Good luck.

Is the pain by your public bone? Sometimes the pelvic bone separates or gets really tender. Does Tylenol help? I'd try to rest more if you can and know that this will be a distant memory when you see your sweet little baby.

Girl i went through the same thing and the more I said something the more Dr said nothing. That is normal the baby is just way down in your pelvic area. Two things you can do walk slowly or have the baby. Breast pump?

I know exactly what you're feeling.....I went through that with my last 3 babies. My Dr. had to induce me with the last 2 at 37 weeks because of the incredible discomfort. You don't have long to go.....unless you go over due. Good Luck!

firstly, congrats.
I experienced this with both my pregnancies. I was told by my Doc that it was normal and that it is caused by the baby's head pushing on a nerve, and while it is uncomfortable and EXTREMELY painful (especially the shooting pain that goes down your inner thigh), apparently is causes no harm to you or bub.
