When the lump is no longer noticeable, it is safe to handle your snake. This should take 2-3 days. Of course, always be gentle when handling your snake.

If you must handle the snake after he's eating, just make sure you do so gently and not for long, and he should not regurgitated... try not to make a habit of it, though :)

The strikes you are experiencing are defensive strikes. Yes snakes have teeth. I have been bitten by non-venomous snakes hundreds of times, with little problem. My guess is that you are approaching and picking up the snake incorrectly; this is common among beginners, who are afraid of being bitten. They tend to reach in slowly and cautiously, in an attempt to allow the snake to become accustomed to the hand. Don't do this- it actually INVITES bites! Instead, reach in quickly and grab the snake. Don't give it time to react, just pick it up, firmly but gently, mid-body. When you handle it, do not squeeze it. Allow it to hang on to you, while keeping a tight enough grip so that it cannot jump from your hand. Handle it frequently, and do not be afraid. With a moderate amount of handling, most specimens will eventually calm down.

Just wait about 2 or 3 days it's food should be digested by then. Otherwise it could possibly regurgitate it's food
