Lying is never good...but it depends, be up front about things like criminal background, work history, education & and other things that they will verify. Other stuff can be worked around like "Oh yes, I have always been interested in (whatever boring product they sell)." or "I loved my last job but I am looking for something more challenging" (when you really quit b/c you worked with morons) As for the other answer, I believe that there are lot of people who are working in jobs that they can't do, and they still have them! All you do is ask for help and watch other people. Just don't lie about a specific skill, if you've never handled nuclear material for example, please don't boast that you did. That's just crazy! Good luck!

1. lying is never good
2. it is against the law to lie on an application, that is why at the end of the application when you signed it, it stated that you hereby swear that all the info on the app is true
3. if you get the job, cant perform a function and the bosses find out you lied you more then likely be fired and will not be able to do anything about it.
if what you cant do isnt that big of a deal, tell them at the interview, if you are what they are looking for they might hire you anyway and just train you in what you dont know.

If you lied on your application I would cancel the interview,,, if the interview is the first step you could go for the experience but depending on what they want you might/might not get the job... tell the truth no matter what because it will eventually come back to haunt you. It is better not to get a job then to get fired from a job because you're not living up to the expectations.

Never lie at an interview. Focus on what you can do. Highlight it, and underline it when your being interviewed. When asked about the 2 things that you don't know how to do, just say I have no experience in that particular area, but I'm a quick learner. Continue to focus on what you can bring to the company.

Don't lie. They will figure it out and have no respect for you, even if they do not fire you on the spot.

Remember that their "list" is a wish list only. They KNOW that they are unlikely to find someone with 100% of the skills listed.

When they ask tell them of what have done or are planning to do to develop those skills. Desire to improve is a great trait. Dishonesty is not.

You should not lie, period. If you lack something, do not mention it. If asked state that you have the ability to learn it (your background will justify that to the employer). If you are new in your career, apply for jobs for beginners and expect to put in your dues for the next 2-3 years.

I would have to say if you were hired based on a lie, the interviewer failed. As an employer, I give tests so that the potential employee a test just to be sure.

Tell them if they ask specifics about the items you don't know that you haven't had the opportunity to work with it yet. If you try to BS them, they will know. And it will taint the entire interview with your application being sent to the circular file!

Be honest. You are usually on probation for 3 months so if they catch you lying, you might be terminated. Maybe you could explain that you are fast learner and given the opportunity, they won't be disappointed.

Dont lie about specifics. Dont say you can do something when you cant. They will figure out you cant do it. You lie that you love to do what they do. When you just want a job.
