Yeah, it's called "the playground at school". Don't let her anywhere near MySpace (or any site like it)!

Nothing is truly safe, to tell you the truth. However, make sure your daughter understands the dangers, and keep a very close eye on her while she is on her "myspace". Know her passwords and check on her once and a while. Know who her "friends" are, and if you want to (but your daughter might think you are being over protective, you can have a final say in who are her "friends" on myspace.
I have a myspace, but I don't really use it. I only use it to talk to my friends that I see very little of.
If you don't want to give her a myspace, another similar (but different) site is Xanga. It has restrictions based on what the content of the site is (more mature content cannot be seen by people under 18). However, xanga is "less popular" than myspace, so I don't know how your daughter would feel about it.

Remember that you are the parent and what you say stands firm. So if you say no then stick to it. You could be saving your daughter from trouble.
On the other hand I believe she is too old but I know my neices and nephews have it and one is 14. But if you keep it to a private site (and of course you know the password and have access to it) and not have her give her age or location and she just has her friends from school on it might be okay. MIGHT! But you would have to observe it very closely. Also I know that if people wanted to access her site they would have to answer an important question that close people would know like her last name or something like that. But the people on there are much older and at her age she is setting herself up for trouble. I would have her wait until she is more mature to handle some of the things that may come her way online. And don't fall for the "everyone has one!" She is your daughter and you only need to protect your daughter...not everyone elses!

Myspace can be potentially dangerous. Internet predators a lurking everywhere. I wouldn't recommend a 10yr old (boy or girl) to be on myspace.
Stay strong, and continue to say no like you are in the candy section of the grocery store.

Noy Myspace...No WAY, not a place for someone younger than 14. Actually, you have to be 14 to even have an account...Unless you lie about your age! There is too much on there that a 10 year old should not see. I have one and my daughter who is 9, is NOT be be around when I am on it.
Too many weirdos on there that prey on young girls!

Only if you make sure that when she signs up that she doesn't lie about her age because kids under 16 have their accounts automatically set to private to avoid predators. However, I think that you might have to be at least 15 or 16 to even have an account.
Simply put, however, the answer is "no." She has no business being on that site. It's basically a virtual nightclub for people 18 to 40.

There aren't any safe sites of that type for minors... because preditors will always try to befriend them. You could make up a site for her as a minor where you can be the one in charge of who her friends are cause you have to invite them yourself to be her friend. So that is about the only precaution you can do for access to her site. But MySpace also has a chat... and it is totally unsafe for minors
Hope this helps you

Myspace isn't safe, you're right. You sound like a good mother. I'd say that a ten year old doesn't need a website at all...not until you're at least thirteen, that's my opinion.

There is virtually nowhere on the internet thats safe for kids. if she wants to go on myspace to make new friends, suggest she go to a rec center or something like the boys and girls club or YMCA.

Technically, there really isn't a "myspace" for kids, though there are plenty of sites where 12 yrs and under can talk with eachother, etc.
MySpace is definately not good for kids, and she should give it a few more years before giving it a go.
There are communities for kids though (like a forum or message board).
https://imbee.com/ Seems safe enough, and was especially designed for kids/families.
