Are you consuming too much salt or sodium in your diet? This is a key cause of excessive thirst. Check the labels on the foods you eat to determine their sodium content, and make sure you note the serving size. (Some single-serve size potato chip bags will say a serving is 12 chips, and list the sodium in those 12 chips, but then if you eat the whole bag, you are getting 3.5 times as much sodium.)

The other issue may be possible gestational diabetes, which causes excessive thirst. Talk to your doctor if you think you might have gestational diabetes. They check for it at every visit by checking your urine. When is your next doctor visit??

Finally, if your urine output is low and dark-colored, such as dark orange or dark yellow, then that means you are not drinking enough fluid. Your urine should be almost clear/colorless. Carry a water bottle wherever you go, and drink throughout the day. During pregnancy, your body carries twice as much blood as it normally does, and you definitely need to drink more water for a healthy pregnancy! I find that I need to drink LOTS more water than I used to, like at least 60 to 80 ounces of water per day, or I get so thirsty. I am in my 24th week!

What day are you due-- I am due may 1.

Girl I am the same way. I am 30 weeks and It seems like I drink drink drink and the quench or dryness never goes away. Then you are up peeing soooo much at night it drives ya crazy. I suggest a humidifier, vaporizer or do like I do and suck on a cough drop when its really bad. And of course drink lots of water and milk, juices are good too throughout the day. I asked the nurse about this and she really couldn't give me an answer why?? I think its just the dryness because of weather or allergies (all because of baby taking away certain things from your body). Good luck I know how ya feel...hopefully it goes away after baby.

This could be an early sign of gestational diabetes. Call your doctor and tell the nurse that you are always thirsty. They may want to go ahead and see you. You might have to take a glucose test. It's not so bad.

I'm not sure why this happens... I am 26 weeks and I literally drank 15 ltrs yesterday, and 10 the day before. Its crazy! And I don't even pee anymore than i did before. a friend of mine said its probably the baby is needed more water in the sack. But as I said, I'm not sure what the reason is for it, but I am going through it if it makes you feel better!

I'm about 16 weeks pregnant and I get dehydrated a lot too. Gatorade helped a little bit because of the electrolytes. Have you been sick throwing up or with the diarrhea because that can really dehydrate you. Maybe you just got too warm while you were sleeping, too.

It could be that you are not taking in enough water during the day. A pregnant woman should take in about 2.5 liters each day. The other possibility is gestational diabetes. Ask your doctor and he/she will do a glucose tolerence test.
