Space may be cold but the Sun is very HOT.

About 10 million degrees!

So we've been avoiding the idea of landing on the Sun....

our air conditioner isn't up to it.

You can't land on the sun. It isn't really solid, it's made of plasma. Also there is so much heat and radiation that you would die before you got anywhere near it. It's surface temperature is over 10,000 degrees farenheit; the only reason that life exists is because we are 90 million miles away, get much closer and you burn up. I mean, look at Venus... its surface temperature is hot enough to melt lead and it's not even close to the sun!

NOBODY has landed on the sun yet, I'm not even sure that any of our rockets have actually been sent into the sun yet (perhaps some venus bypassing rockets were destroyed this way).

No one ever landed on the sun, and no one is ever likely to be able to land on the sun, partly because the surface is super heated gas (no solid ground) and partly because the surface temperature would melt anything anyway.

He didnt land, he burnt to a cinder before touch down.

Additional - they did manage to hyperspace through it in Lost in Space and Captain Kirk has propelled himself around the sun for time travel!

.if you could stick around for about 5 billion years the sun will be dead.with only its cold solid core remaining so if man is going to land on the sun it will be then.but of course man will be long gone by then.and i don't mean gone to live somewhere else i mean extinct.

Icarus flew to close to the current bun, and came to a sticky end. But no real man ever has landed there, lest he melt long before he reaches his destination.
