My RS does very well in the snow. I always put on winter tires and I find that I generally have one of the best handling cars in the snow around. In fact I've often passed stuck SUV's and pickups... I think the RS is a great road car in any weather, it also comes in the TS (wagon) version which is handy if you are going skiing.

The RS and WRX have identical suspension components. However the biggest downfall to the impreza in terms of handling in the snow is the stock tires (Potenza RE-92). If you replace the RE-92's with a set of decent snowtires (check on tirerack for different ratings in snow) then you will be set in most snow condition that the car can clear.

Yes. It, like all Subaru's has AWD(all-wheel-drive) plus fully independent suspension. This translates into very nice handling on or off road, even in the snow!! However, consider the Baja over the Impreza, the Baja is slightly higher and more versatile with the combination of truck/4d sedan. Always go for the manual over automatic. More torque in all gears that way!!

Just bought a 2007 Impreza Sport Wagon 2 months ago. If it ever snows here in Buffalo,NY. you'll be the 1st to know! So far the car handles great in all the other weather we have been having. Great steering, power, traction, etc.

They do fine in the snow, as the new all wheel drive systems have mirrored Jeep's and now actually work unlike the older systems. Even with the all wheel drive you still shouldn't drive 90MPH in the snow. WRX is just a sports model, and with that up goes the insurance and registration.

There is one car that handles better and is still a good option. The LEGACY. It was designed for snow, and by the way...the Legacy L models have more leg room than the Outbacks and are EXCELLENT in the snow!

Very well in handling and safety. The AWD system is one of the best and it has adequate spunk to get you where you need to go. (173hp)
