Washington had several sets of false teeth throughout his life, none of which were made of wood. The set he had made when he became President was made using hippopotamus ivory for the plates, gold for the springs and real human teeth (supplimented with some sculpted from horse and donkey teeth).
False teeth at the time were rare, and most sets were made with real human teeth. These were often hard to come by though, and battlefields were a common source. The recent War of Independence created an ample supply.

They were made of ivory set in metal. They're at Mt. Vernon I believe. Supposedly he never smiled much because he only used them to eat. They were made by John Greenwood.
