Not necessarily. As I remember the last washing machine I had in England had two water connections, one for hot water and one for cold. In French flats there is only a single water connection, so a British machine wouldn't work. Sell the British machine before you leave and buy a new one in France; white goods are really cheap over here. Check the site below for French cheapest prices.

You can use a Swiss washing machine as well.

Most electrical appliances sold in Europe have to work in the 220 - 240 volt AC range.

Yours will work. BTW : 'White goods' in France are about 20% cheaper here in France than the UK.

It might be cheaper to leave your old machine and buy a new one.

No: It will probably spin the wrong way ;-)

However you can try with an adapter (current in France is 220V / 50 hz / European plug), but beware of the maximum power that the adapter can support compared the the machine's peak power.

Also, given the price of a washing machine, and the weight of it, it is probably not worth it to transport it.

You should be able to as in France, we use 220V and in England, 210. You just need to buy an adaptor (very cheap) or have the plug changed (but I guess it's cheaper to use an adaptor).

I've never had a problem with any of my electrical equipments, although I have to admit they were small ones.

Yes you can. You just need to change the plug...however your TV won't work! You will need to buy a new one in France.
