I am thinking of buying a bus for the youth group at my church but I am not sure if they can afford it. About how many miles to the gallon does a 1991 6.9 liter international turbo deisel get per mile? How many gallons would a 1992 international school bus hold?

Usually buses have a 50 gallon tank and those engines on a highway squeeze out 10-12mpg.... good luck.

I would assume no more than 8-10 mpg for that engine. I know my Cummins M-11's get about 6 mpg. Remember that diesel engines will soon need particulate filters which are additional cost.

The gas tank size depends on your specific vehicle's specs. I would guess 75-150 gallons (my tour coaches have 250 gallon tanks).
