Well ideals which is the plural form of ideal pasically means something that is perfect or the most suitable for the situation it is used about. It also has the meaning of existing only in your imagination or as a perfect idea and not likely to be real.

Idea is what we think in our minds would be perfect, rather it be the perfect person for you, the perfect vacation, the perfect job, the perfect way for something to go, that's our ideals.

"An ideal is a principle or value that one actively pursues as a goal. Ideals are particularly important in ethics, as the order in which one places them tends to determine the degree to which one reveals them as real and sincere."

So basically, ideals are goals that you set for yourself.
