Hello, Something I tell my 17 year old almost every day is, someone with no real work history can not be choosy. My boy says he dose not want this and he wont do that and well, a kid is not going to start at the highest paying job, nor the best job out there. My boy is also moved out of here, his choice, therefor he does not get money from us. Like most everyone else you start at the bottom and work yourself up. If your car is that important to you, you will go to whomever hiring, even the fast food places and since you have nothing to offer them but a warm body and the willingness to work they might hire you......get your food handlers card. Good luck!

My first job at age 16 was working as a waitress in a family restaurant. I used to be able to bank my wages and live off my tips. I had a lot of fun and met some really nice people from all over the world.

The job I had prior to this was cleaning a lady's house including ironing her husband's shirts. This was hard work and I really didn't enjoy myself very much since they really did nothing to keep the place neat.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Start in retail ...this will help you in the long run to better communicate with people (both in person and on the phone). This type of job is great--especially if you plan to work in a corporate setting later down the line. High-end department stores like Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, and Neiman Marcus pay great salaries and also offer commission.

Good luck!

It depends on what you like to do. However, I would say
getting a job at a local grocery is good because they usually work around school hours, the pay is usually decent & you can move up in the company.... which will help pay for college
should you decide to go & if you dont go to college then working
at a grocery store is good because it can be a career.

Good luck

It depends on what you really want to do - when I was 16 I got a job working with an accountant because that is what I really wanted to learn and I liked office work. - I have also had a job as a house painter; a babysitter, and worked in fast food. I did all of these jobs before graduating high school. It really depends on your personality. As yourself - do I want to work really hard or just slack off and make money - if you want to work really hard do fast food or house painting - slack off get an office job or be a babysitter.

Go to a temp agency and get an office-type job, having experience in the corporate environment will help you much more than fast food or retail, unless you're planning on focusing in those areas.

Go with what you really can do well, and apply that to the people that would pay to have that done for them. Daily activities of everyone. Give your cell phone as a source of completing a forgotten item, when people get home and find they forgot to pick up bread, or sugar, coffee for the morning? It would help to have a car, or bike. learn methods of organized garages, cellers, sheds, closets, barns, attics. get a line contact with a storage company, to clean out their units as people leave and move outm, they often leave valuable belongings, for lack of transport, and space.

A retail job close to your house in a department store or something. Don't work anywhere that gets held up by armed robbers!

Being a barrista is fun. The tips aren't bad either and working in a coffee shop is kind of cool--especially when they have performers on the weekend.
