There are several free ones to try but only one free one that really works! Get Avast.
For individuals is is always free and it updates once a day automatically when you connect to the web.
It's the best! It will scan everything coming in, email, downloads, software, you name it. It will alert you and automatically quarantine anything that is suspicious.
No ads, pop ups or other free ware junk. The link is below. You won't be sorry!

antiviruses...of course, do NOT pick norton because it sucks. dont use the windows one. If you're willing to spend money, I immediately recommend spyware sweeper. Now, since youre looking for a free antivirus, you can pick avg free or zone alarm. zone alarms pretty good cuz for me it comes with both an antivirus and ahs an amazing firewall. next up is pccillin. sorry if im not making any sense...lol..im trying to help you but i have to go soon

AVG is free and works well. Ccleaner keeps your computer nice and clean. Just type in under search for each.

ClamWin - free and open-source virus scan. I've installed this on lots of people's computers with no complaints of infection or their computers slowing down.

i like Avast too, thats what i use and it does really well
just don't forget to register it like it prompts you to or it will become ineffective... all ya gotta do is put in the free product key they email to ya
the free version is the 'home use' one and not the upgrade
