The three areas overlap much.

A (firm) financial manager must understand how to raise capital (markets) as well as how to evaluate business investments (valued similarly to financial investments).

A markets person is a middleman between firms and investors, so must know the needs and methods of each.

An investor has to participate through financial markets (brokers, banks, etc.) and invests in firms.

That's why the introductory finance course at a university hits all three areas.
