The bulbs in the ceiling light fixture in my room went out, and we can't get the cover off to replace them!

It won't push in, it won't unscrew. The ring around it won't budge. It's hard glass and won't push in or give. There are no screws to unscrew.

Please help!

Below are two photos of the fixture. Thanks!

This is a house (11 years old), not an apartment.

Yes, it should un-screw, someone snugged it tight.
Then with the heating up & down, made it tighter.
I have one just like it, learned the hard way, too.

Hope this helps,
Dave

hard to tell but it may be one of those where the glass part is just popped into place and held by two spring metal blackets

try to unpop the glass globe
if thats not it, look for a screw on the outer ring or just try unscrewing the whole thing by twisting it

some light fixtures are just crazy but they look good i guess

Very good. I'm not Unitarian but I think theirs is the best. I also like the Methodists. I might add in the Catholic church, along with candles they would have a light bulb, but it would be the one true light bulb and the bulbs of the Protestants would not really light (pre Ecumenical Council Catholics)

I believe that ring will turn like a screw. It may be frozen there because of some paint or something, but I think it will unscrew.

But now that I have read Manny's answer, I think he's correct. Try unscrewing the globe out of the ring.

Well, it's got to come off somehow.

Just looking at the picture, my guess is that the whole glass part part unscrews from the base but is just being a bit stubborn.

Hi ~ I had the same problem few years ago...Your fixture looks pretty much identical to the one I had...

--Mine was supposed to twist off,but was painted over a bit on the edge and I couldn't budge it. I asked a guy-friend to help and he ended up breaking the whole fixture.
Better Luck to you : )

I would take your photo to a electrical fixture store and they should be able to give you instructions. Some place like Lowe's and Home Depot could also be a good source of information and help.

This is the breakout type. Put on saferty glasses and hit with a hammer. Get a new snap in glass cover from Home Depot. They will know what you are talking about.

It has to unscrew. The ring won't budge as it is attached to the ceiling. The cover unscrews. Are you sure you are turning it to the left?

hi Sara , that glass is screwed into the ring, all you need to do is with both hands put some pressure on the glass going into the ring an at the same time turn counter clock wise. let me know how that works for you....
