Michelin

The best = Goodyear and Bridgestone

Intermediate = Continental, BF Goodrich, General, Dunlop, Dayton, Kuhmo, Yokohama, Pirelli, others...

The worst = Michelin = "French overpriced junk"
even though Michelin practically owns the commercial truck tire market...

Firestone= synonymous with failure..
Hankook = just had a recall summer '06
Cooper= bring a plug kit with you every where you go... that is for passenger tires.. anyone care to ask me how I know?

It depends on what you want the tires to do.
Do you spend most of your time driving on city streets freeways, or off road?
Go to any reputable tire dealer and talk to them. Buy a few car mags like car and driver, automobile, road and track or visit the web sites of the mags. They often do tire tests.
DO NOT listen to brand loyalists who tell you goodyear, bs goodrich etc.
And don't fool yourself. If you don't do alot of off roading don't buy a tire with a super aggresive tread pattern-you'll just be wasting fuel and money.
Lastly, use YOUR head do your own research. There is no way to tell if what these yahoos are telling you is true or what their expertise is.
P.S.
DON'T buy ANY tires made in FRANCE! (michelin)

the kind with good treads....hahaha
just kidding of course
I just received a set of Hancocks all season radials for christmas.

I think all of them are on an equal level. We live in a climate of extremes, and have had many types of tires.... all of them perfomed the same. So go with what's on sale.

NOT FIRESTONE or anything made by them. I used to mount tires and Michelin, Goodyear and Uniroyal were some of the better ones. Firestone isn't good enough for anything in my eyes
