ok so heres the story. my gf get the worst cramps so bad that she cant lay down or just crys. today i went over to her house( she has her period) she answered the door , didnt say a word and went right back downstairs on the couch and layed with the hot water bottle. i came downstairs took the waterbottle off of her, sat her up and layed her so her head was on my chest and legs were over my legs..i put the water bottle back on her stomach and comforted her to try to get her to go to sleep.
is there anything else i could do for her? i hear that if you sit her in the upright position it makes the cramps less painfull.is that true?....she takes midol but i dont think it is helping her...please give your advice.

Probably your girlfriend has to see gynecologist (endometriosis or some types of pelvic inflammation can cause this)

oooh i dealt with that but worse. Let me guess....she has cramps so badly that she can feel tiny cramps the day before her period starts? If so have her take a pain reliever (whatever works for her, in the correct dose) as soon as she feels anything. then have her take normal recommended doses (as listed on the package) until the pain goes away. I hear the pill also works. If she doesnt feel the mini-cramps before her period starts but she knows the day her period will start she can still do the early pill thing. And give her a plug-in electrical pad to put on her back. The heat will relax her muscles. Seeing the Dr. wouldnt hurt at all... By the way you are very sweet for even asking...she has a keeper :)

Sounds like you're a pretty caring guy...good for you! SHe is having menstrul cramps and there are some medications on the market she could take if she made an appt with a GYN specialist. The hot water bottle seems to help...but I thin the TLC you are giving her also helps. Tell her to drink hot tea too. Sitting up or lying down makes little difference....it is all in what makes her feel better.

She needs to go see her Doc. I have the same problem I've tried everything and nothing works for me I don't have any underlined condition it's just the way it is. I'm going to my Doc. tomorrow to see if he can give me anything for it. Most Doctor's will give some kind of pain med or muscle relaxer if it's that bad. Just take her to the Doctor and they can figure something out.

I have an update for you. I went to my doctor yesterday and he thinks that I may have Endometriosis. This is something that your girlfriend might want to talk to her doctor about. It's actually very common but most women don't know much about it. Here's a link she can check out and see what she thinks.

I have had very bad cramps since I was a young teen with periods.I have gone through all the testing medications X-rays u can think of.What I do to sooth the cramps, drinking hot tea.Drink it as hot as she can take it.(Not so hot that she burns herself)Wait about 10 minutes and they should clear up.But I would also see a OBGYN just cause one thing works for me doesn't mean it will work for someone else.Just a thought.Good luck.

You care a lot for your gf!That's sweet.
She can have some medicine which you can buy over the counter for the pain. I do that but as I live in different place, I cant mention the name of the medicine as you wont find it in your place.
Sometimes cold water bottle also helps. I drink cold water when I have pain.

Is she on birth control? Birth control helps with cramps. I am on the Nuvaring but I still get killer cramps. I take ibuprofen 800mg and sleep with a heating pad. Suggest birth control. It should really help. If she is already on birth control then I would try a different kind.

well i switched from midol to pamprin because it works better for me. sadly moving helps muscles relax a little but it also makes you bleed more so she would need to switch to heavier pad or tampon. try and get her to just walk around the block or neighborhood with you if she can. also tell her to try taking long soaks in a nice hot tub. those are what i use when i feel extra cra**y. hope these help you help your girlfriend.

tell her to see her doctor, i had a friend with a similar problem every time she had her period, she just couldn't function..... her doctor put her on some type of birth control pill, i guess to help with hormones, & it helped her tremendously..... suggest this to your gf, & tell her to go talk to her doc about it, this may not be right for her, but at least the doc can try something to give her some relief..... & brownie points to you for being so concerned & supportive, alot of guys would just leave her alone, which wouldn't help a girls' feelings any.........
