Keeping busy. Finding a hobby that takes a while to complete, so you (your friend) has something to look forward to completing. Volunteering at a local animal shelter would seem like it would be depressing, but it is very rewarding. Things like that.

Working out and Cooking. Mainly working out though, you'll find that there is no better therapy. My dad puts up scriptures, pictures of family and plays christian music while he works out and he says hes been doing it for decades to keep the blues and stress away

Immerse yourself in a positive atmosphere and work the stress out!

It depends on the extent of symptoms. Exercises might help, but in severely depressive people lack of will to get of bed is not unusual ...

grab life by both horns and ride it until you solve whatever life throws your way,..

you can break that cloud of depression,by getting up and doing some kind deed for some else.

find something that you enjoy doing, go out with friends,take a bath,look at old photos, laugh for no reason
