Multiply the first equation by 2 and then add that to the second equation.
-6x + 2y = 14
6x - 2y = -14
0 = 0 (This is true).
That means the equations are exactly the same (one is on top of the other).
The answer is all real numbers.

3x-y=-a million ------a million 4x+2y=22------2 multiply first equation through two turns into 6x-2y=-2 4x+2y=22 -2x and 2x cancels out 6x+4x=10x -2+22=20 10x=20x x=2 putting x=2 in equation a million 3(2)-y=-a million 6-y=-a million 6+a million=y 7=y subsequently x=2 and y=7
