It is usually very difficult to speak rationally to a drunk person. You almost have to be literally cruel to them to get them to listen. I would:
1 Tell them that what they were thinking of doing is totally wrong
2 Warn them that if they did they would regret it terribly later if not sooner
3 If that still did not work pick up a phone and dial the number of the spouse and threaten to push the send button if they did not leave with you right then
4 If you needed to.... push send.... Let them explain to him/her why they were called.
IT WORKED FOR ME...IVE BEEN HAPPILY & FAITHFULLY MARRIED FOR 5 YEARS NOW THANKS TO MY REAL FRIEND!!!!!!!

I would leave them to make their own mistake. I've been in this situation, and I left the party for the friend to make her own mistake. Why? Because alcohol often brings out a person's true feelings, and if they have the urge to cheat, they will do it later on drunk or not. You are not going to be there 24/7 to babysit this person, and you shouldn't involve yourself in their personal drama. By the way, the one time I stepped in to prevent this girl from cheating on her b/f, she was really drunk, got angry because I pulled her away from the guy and made her leave with me, and she hit me when we got back to my place. I still stayed up to make sure she didn't choke on her own vomit while she slept. A few days later, she cheated anyways, while she was sober. It wasn't even worth my time or effort to stop her the first time, so the next time she started flirting with others at a friend's party, I left her to her own choices and mistakes. It would be wise for you to do the same.

As callous as this sounds, after a brief "Hey! Think about what you are doing!" you have to let them make their own mistake. If the person is old enough to be drunk and have a "boy/girlfriend" then they are old enough to experience the morning after guilt, shame, and headache that follows such an incident. The only time to get REALLY bossy is when a drunk person wants to drive. Then-do whatever it takes.

I would ask my friend to think it over because of the mere fact that they were drunk. Not that drunkeness is an excuse. Soemtimes I think that people's true wishes come out when drunk? I don't know though. I guess after I spoke with them and they decided to cheat, the ball is in their court and they must explain to their mate. I would tell them I could not lie if asked though...which I don't know what I wuld do if the situation did come up???

Well....i would try to stop him/her. But since that is your freind, i am sure he/she has a reason to cheat, ''cheat'' itself being a wrong reason. Why do u think he/she did ? If he/she was drunk, i think you shud wait until tomorrow for the real reasons, and talk to her / him...and then..look, those are the obvious things to do. But being a freind, the fact that you find it wrong itself means your freind is not behaving the way he/she is....so just cool...and dont react to this, wait, and, be calm, talk, ..iam sure he/she had his/her reasons...and then look, whatever, keep away from any mess, ..might help u..good luck

learning from their own mistakes is good. learning the hard way is enlightment...so let them...

You can never tell a drunk person that they are doing wrong because they will never listen to you...perhaps tell them not to drink so much so they don't make life mistakes.

you can try and talk sense into the person, and if this does not work you stay out of it. We all make out own mistakes and have to face the consequences.

Just because they are drunk doesn't mean they dont know what they are doing. Its not my job to stop anybody from doing anything.
