Perhaps you can enlighten me. Why don't Americans have any appreciation for the fact that we are engaged in a war over our right to exist as a country, a people, and a civilization? Why are Americans so unwilling to recognize the threats it faces, and why is Western Civilization in general so complacent and so apathetic to the fact that it may not even exist within the next century if Radical Islam wins?

Because there is no war on terror and the explanation is in the question I posed this morning, "Are You One Of The Astute Few Who Have Discovered The Source Of G. Bush's Political Agenda???"

Obviously George W. Bush does not have this degree of intelligence (or any degree), so understand that "W" is a proxy for the neoconservative establishment (who are lobbying for regime change in nearly every Non-Western Country). Also understand how fragile a democracy is and how easy it can be manipulated (especially with television). The source is a book written in 1864 by Maurice Joly entitled "The Dialogue in Hell between Machiavelli and Montesque". It's a clever dialogue explaining how a democracy can easily be transformed into a dictatorship without the citizenry being aware. At the time of the writing, this very transformation was occurring in France by the tyrant-to-be, Louis Napoleon III. Joly was one of a few to recognize it, so he wrote this book to explain how Louis was doing it. It turned out to be a blueprint, or manual for dictators and was used by Hitler and now by Bush (as a proxy).

All you need, Joly says, is a terror event, a handy enemy against whom the public can be easily incited, and a fascist posing as the people's savior! ANY BODY RECOGNIZE THIS??? Joly had inadvertently created a blueprint for the most dangerous theories and tactics, which would actually contribute to the most heinous crimes agaainst humanityh to be perpetrated in the next century!!!!!!!! AND WE KNOW THAT AMERICA HAS FALLEN VICTIM SINCE 9/11 WAS OBVIOUSLY A FALSE FLAG ATTACK. Osama is the handy enemy, AND, bush continues to play the "Jesus" card!!! Terror...Lies...and Bribery...Unfortunately, as scholars have pointed out, the public does not possess the tools to judge the lie (as many answers below will demonstrate)

Declaring war on terror is like declaring a war on crime there is no possible way we can declare war on an act that has existed for centuries and will continue to exist. And instead of going after the leader those who attacked us, we go and invade the wrong country. Those responsible have still not been held accountable for what they have done. Our government seems to be taken away our civil liberties granted to us by our Bill of Rights, and they are using this so called "war on terrorism" as an excuse to do it. With all of this, how can we?

My opinion is that over half of the American and the Western World think that the war on terror and the 9/11
attacks were an inside job and it is a farce or an random attack by muslim radicals and won't believe anything will happen again until something worse happens, then, just
maybe, they might wake up!!!! If Radical Islam wins, there WILL BE wide-spread blood shed world wide.
Radical Islam has studied the Nazi Third Reich and Hitler's
rise to power. Watch the film: http://www.obsessionthemovie.com/index.html
I think it still works.

Because we disagree about your basic premise. I don't think we are at war with terror--that doesn't even pass the basic logic test, as a war, by definition, is a competition between competing political interests (nations, nation-states, etc.). You can't be at war with an idea. Now, I do believe that there are radical Islamists who do want to obliterate Western style democracies. But I also think that there are rightist U.S. politicians (e.g., President Bush) who seek to do the same thing through the illusion of "protecting us." And I think that there are social-anarchists who would tear all of the power structures down, just for fun. I just happen to think that the biggest threat to our country and "civilization" is the U.S. political right that would turn us into a strictly regulated police state, without freedom of choice, travel, marriage, sexual identity, media, or the other things that I would argue are the foundation of our "civilization."

You are believing all the hype they put out. The only terror is Bush running this country. This war is over oil and making Bush and his friends rich and keeping us in fear and nothing more. They have used all this as an excuse to take our rights away with the Patriot act!! Many believe our government was behind 911! Explain why nothing more has been done. Why aren't we looking for Ben Ladin or how ever you spell it? Besides, you think we could really stop an attack? All they have to do is poison our food or something else very simple and it would be easy since we are so lax about everything. Don't believe everything you are told son....there are many liars out there and they are the ones running our government!!

because the media don't report the news, just the angle they want the american people to see, i haven't watchec the news in 4 years, until last night i flipped over to CNN to see Gerald Ford's funeral and saw the news bashing Bush with everything they had, i'm not saying Bush is right on everything, but i can make my own mind up about the news, just report it ,not your idea of it.
You got to ask yourself ONE question ,have we had anymore buildings bombed or crashed into since we invaded these 2 countries, must be doing something right, or we could pull our troops out and see Americans killed in the streets of the good USA, by suicide bombers and CNN would be asking why don't Bush do anything about all the killing in the streets. You want to know what the problem is, it's not Bush or the terrorists , it's the media stirring up everything up, the media is just as much to blame for 911 as the terrorists

Radical Islamists make up a very small percentage of the total world Muslim population, despite all the booga-booga by FOXnews and other Rovian propaganda outlets. If our country wasn't engaged in cowboy interventionist foreign policy, and if we didn't back the Israeli apartheid state, and if we pulled our troops out from Muslim holy lands, all the arguments bin Laden and his ilk have against America would be totally shattered. Islam is a peaceful religion, and has been hijacked by a vocal violent minority intent on using Allah as a justification for their ignorant hatred and attacks. American Christianity is under the same attack from ultra-right wing evangelicals who would rather institute a totalitarian theocratic state, much like Iran, instead of follow the Constitution. We cannot take this "war on terror" seriously because it's our own damn policies throughout the past few decades that have built up the Radical Islamists and pissed them off. Who funded the Mujahideen against Russia? Who funded Saddam against Iran? Who gave them weapons and money? Our CIA installed the Shah of Iran in place of the democratically elected leader back in '56, no wonder they're pissed at us. Get your head out from your one-way digestive tract, "my country right or wrong" is a really ignorant attitude.

And why haven't you figured out that SADDAM WAS NOT PART OF THE WTC INCIDENT!!!!

To quote Bush EXACTLY: "No, we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th," Bush said.

If we want to fight terror...maybe we should be in Afghanistan where Osama bin Ladden is hiding out? Instead of getting involved in a civil war of our making. At least Saddam had total control where there could be no civil war.

This is actually a very good question.

Probably for a few reasons. First off, our Government isn't taking the war on terror seriously.....have you checked our borders lately? We are farming out port security, and risking our National Security in spite of it. What's our government doing to try to secure our borders???? Shouldn't we worry about securing our own back door and making sure our $hit is protected before we go marching off to other countries to solve their problems???

Oh, I'm not blaming the Government for all of our problems...
Let me mention our lazy, complacent american citizens who sit on their @$$ in front of the TV eating bon bons and playing computer games instead of educating themselves...They would rather buy something cheap imported from China because they are so greedy and have to keep up with the Jones's that they have forgotten all about "let's help keep the jones's employed"...

And oh yes....we must look out for everyones civil liberties....(except our own)...don't pray....oh, I mean Don't pray to Jesus that is...if you would like to pray to Alah...that's ok..because we must respect the religion of "OTHERS"...

And let me go back to our complacent Americans....Do we care anymore about bringing up children with morals and values??? Or are we just letting them raise themselves believeing it's ok to rob, steal, cheat and disrespect others???

Hmm, I'm sure I could go on....but why bother. Americans are selfish and they could care less about protecting and defending OUR country....It makes me so angry...especially as a disabled veteran of the United States Air Force.

Perhaps one day Americans will wake up and realize that soon we will have no America....and hopefully it won't be too late to reclaim! Perhaps we better start Blessing God instead of Asking God to Bless America!!!!

Terrorists only threaten our way of life by causing perpetual fear and reactionary politicians to strip our civil liberty's in the name of security. You could die on your way home from work, but your still going, right? Freedom means not being safe. Radical Islam is so vastly outnumbered and outgunned that they have to hijack airplanes to get weapons. They Can Not Win! So we laugh at them. Because that is the best way to get revenge against a terrorist.
