MTV just started trying to hard to be everything to everybody.
I agree that they should just play more videos! You can watch about a thousand episodes of "Making the Video" but not ever see the actual video any other time!
It is crazy to think how much money gets spend making this crazy elaborate movie-like videos that nobody ever gets to see.
With the exception of the "True Life" documentaries, I could give up every other show on MTV .

No kidding. You dont even get to watch a whole video on TRL and if you dont watch the Big 10 in the morning you dont get to see any videos. I like some of the shows like Laguna Beach or Road Rules/Real World Challenges but the other ones are pretty dumb. If they want to do just shows like that they need to make another MTV station that does that. I know I dont get MTV2 but most of the videos they play are rock and some people dont like that. And they made that MTV station that for hispanics so why cant they make MTV (Music Television) all music videos from all genres and make one with all of their reality shows?

Though I agree wholeheartedly, les we forget MTV dictates what is popular. They don't portray how young adults act, they dictate how young adults act. It's based on ratings. Teenagers don't want to see music videos for 24 hours a day. They want to see what everyone else is listening to, then see how people act in California, then catch their booty jams. It's what sells. Though I personally would love music videos 24 hours a day, I would also suffice for a mixture. I don't mind watching a TV show if it pertains to music, but how does Laguna Beach portray music in any way shape or form? All Laguna Beach is is an answer to the O.C. Yet another way to make money.
I suggest sticking to the internet. Yahoo video's is pretty neat, in that you may actually select the type of videos you wish to see. Leave MTV to the teenyboppers and hot topic emo kids.

Yes! And I think MTV two and perhaps a "spin-off" station/"sister station", like VH1 should carry any series of programs. Much like the stations are now, only MTV would show music videos all day long...in that way a true music television exists!

Wow, you are lucky...I haven't seen a music video on MTV for years!..I'll try to wake up earlier...
I do sometimes enjoy bad reality TV...but I think MTV has gone passed it's original content objective...and I mean not that it has surpassed it....but has missed it...

I believe MTV2 shows all music now, so the flagship station will never change back.
