Could walk or ride your bike but not practical and dangerous. Or how about the Old Grey Hound bus?
Some times people post a message that there going somewhere and would share in the cost of the gas...
Hitch but you never know whos car your getting into...

It is cheap to hitchhike, though it may not be the best. Look for sales on the bus.
