Notre Dame has always been a BCS favorite, primarily because of their media deals. Remember they had an exclusivity deal with NBC during the 90s, so that equaled to $$$ for the BSC. The BSC is a business and at the end of the day, they have to do what is going to make the most money for them...some call it capitalism, other's call it greed.

I can't say they are favored by the BCS, I think they were ranked 15th before the season started and it was the pollsters that moved them up. Now explain how Notre Dame gets such a high ranking.

No they just ran into an angry USC team ready to play lights out. Michigan would have beaten Oklahoma, Wake Forest, Louisville, ND and maybe LSU. It was more bad luck that they were matched up with a great USC team.

Where was O.J. Simpson hiding before the infamous white Bronco slow speed chase?
The University of Michigan campus. It's the last place you'd expect to find a football player. GO BUCKS FEAR THE SWEATERVEST!!!
But to answer your question, No, the wolverines are a great football team but Lloyd Carr seems to choke in every big game. Michigan welcome to your John Cooper era.

USC is the only team favored by the BCS. I can't believe they made it to a bowl game with Michigan after losing to UCLA.

I don't think they necessarially get favored. They're a great team, beat some great teams, and barely lost to #1 OSU. They deserve to be ranked highly, well until their recent loss to USC. To me, they just can't seem to win that big game (i.e. their last few bowl games and the recent match-ups with OSU).

U of M--of course, you're talking about the Golden Gophers of Minnesota! And no--they don't get favored by the BCS, and shouldn't be.
