To know this you need to know how long your periods usually last, which you can track by keeping track of them every month on a calendar. Just write a big red "1" on the first day of every period and then count how many days there are before the next one.

You are most fertile 14 days before your next period is due. For greatest accuracy, use an ovulation predictor kit, which you can buy at any drug store. You pee on the strips in the kit and they tell you when you are ovulating.

Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... so if you are having a shortened cycle one month and you have sex right after your period and you ovulate earlier than day 14 than yes, there is a chance of getting pregnant. The only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not.
My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything……the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

Day 14 (which will be in 9 days for you - you start the cycle with Day 1, which is the first day of your period) is when most women ovulate, but you need to know your individual cycle, because some women are different.
Look for an increase in slippery "egg-white" cervical mucus (discharge) and if you have a sensitive basal digital thermometer, take your temperature every day before you get out of bed. On the day you experience a slight spike in the temperature, then you are ovulating that day - good time to get pregnant.
Or you could just buy 5-6 ovulation predictor sticks at the store and figure out your ovulation day according to the instructions on the package.
Good luck.

Midway between periods or approximately day 11 through day 14 most women are most fertile.. You may note a slight increase in temperature when you are most fertile, usually for about 48 hours at the least. Some people are fertile for six days or a week.
Our local Agricultural University researched cattle pregnancy and found that with too FEW bulls, the cattle naturally produced more male calves, (fertility was occuring late in the cycle and nature was trying to produce more males.) They found with lots of bulls with the herd that frequent mating and early conception produced more females (for the future) because there were "too many bulls." .
If their findings are true and you could decide this month how long your most fertile period was, then next month you could try to conceive early (for a female) or late (for a male.)
This may explain why the "macho" man often ends up with an entire family of girl babies. .

I would say the 17th-19th of the month. I started mine on the 16th of September and got pregnant somewhere around the end of September/beginning of October. Good luck! My husband and I tried for 10 months before getting pregnant, so don't get discouraged! There is always next month!

Me too and the best time for us to try to conceive will be the 16th of January if you are on a 28 day cycle. You should have sex a couple of days before and a couple of days after that date as well. Good luck!

They say you ovulate 14 days prior to your period, but according to my doctors calculations and my due date, that wouldn't be true for me.
