I think economy7 is only for electricity. All meters should be economy 7 as they should have a night and day reading on them (or high and low). You will have to look at your bill to see if your tariff is economy 7. If it doesn't say or can't see contact your supplier. If you think you'll save money on economy 7 contact your supplier to change. They should also be able to tell you if economy 7 would be your cheapest tariff. Economy 7 is best for those who use more electricity at night - ie if you put the washing machine, tumble drier etc on at night.

Stand near your electricity meter at 11:30pm, and again at 6:30am.
If you hear a loud, dull clunk that is the cheap rate electricity cutting in and you have economy seven.

My Gran had economy 7 heaters. They were brilliant on cost & heating.
They came on late at night & the thermostat turned off at around 8am. She found they kept her flat warm all throughout the day.
It was also cheaper to use her washing machine at night.
Her electricty bill was very reasonable too!

on electric, watch your meter (if its digital) and if you get two diff readings one much higher than the other then you have E7. Failing that check your bills it should tell you on them

i think there'll be two dials on it... and it'll switch over for off-peak, but your best best would be to take down the serial numbers and call Transco for the gas and (can't remember the elcetric company, but Transco'll tell you) and ask them. they'll have records of iut. if their records aren't right, they should come out to confirm everything anyway.
