Not sure how hockey got into your mind, perhaps some movies or friend of yours slightly mentioned about it or perhaps you read the news about it ant that caused you dream like that. However..

Playing hockey in a mall with left hand = unusual behavior
Being made as defense man =be controlled.

Never mind if you know how to skate or not. Your dream has some symbols about your life. Probably there are something in your life or some behavior that you feel disrespected. That is why you projected the manager was controlling your wish. Manager in this case was your obstacle, suppression or person who controlled you. It symbolizes things you want to be respected and somehow you don't get it in reality.

That is why you vent it out in dream

Dreams are very hard to translate by others who don't know you. They are very symbolic in nature. Dreaming of a dog running after you would be different for everyone who dreams it based on what a dog symbolizes to them. Basically the dog isn't actually an animal but a symbol of something to you. Be it fear, comfort, companionship, responsibility . . . etc.

You'll need to sit down with a close friend or family member and try to figure out what each thing mean that were in the dream in order interpret it. If you are shy, does the mall skating rink symbolize a vulnerable place to you? Is it how you see the world around you? Big, open and cold? Does being a goalie mean too much is being shoved at you? Find out what the main focus of the dream was about and break it down to what those things mean to "you."

It's a fun process but it does take time and once you get the hang of it you can really learn a lot about yourself and how you are dealing or not dealing with your life situations.

Good luck!!

Playing sports may represent some aspects of the way that we run our lives, or may refer to internal struggles where one part of the dreamer's psyche or personality is attempting to "win" over another. At times life is like a challenging sport. We compete, try to win, and attempt to develop our abilities so that we will succeed. In the dream, the outcome of the game may say something about how well we are doing. Do we feel competent and successful; are we playing fair, or is the sport more competitive than what we are comfortable with? In order to understand the dream, consider the details and attempt to identify what in daily life creates similar emotions. All sports and games have specific rules and boundaries. Your performance within this framework may represent the struggle against inner conflicts such individual fears and weaknesses, or may be referring to a pragmatic problem or situation at work or in your relationships.

The dream probably has nothing to do with hockey but more likely something that's going on in your life. I don't know your age but sounds like maybe your being asked to perform some duties in the workplace or school that you are not comfortable with. Maybe something new that you have never tried before.
Your mind associates things that it can relate to in order to work out problems that you encounter during waking hours.
