examples of radiated electromagnetic energy

x-rays --- medical imaging
u.v rays --- tanning salon
visible light --- the sun
i.r. waves --- i.r port on my computer
microwaves --- in my kitchen
radio waves --- from my favorite statiom

sound is also radiated so i would suppose
that any form of energy propagated as a wave is too.
is it radiated if it passes through a solid or a fluid ?
i'd have to say yes also. what about the flux of particles
emitted as a result of radioactive decay ? would you call
that "radiation" ?
