I'm not sure about the red spots, but my daughter has been on Alimentum for about 3 months now. Prior to this she was SUPER gassy...during every feeding she would cry, pull her legs up, let the milk just basically run out of her mouth. We tried every formula out there, Similac, Enfamil, Soy, Goodstart...Alimentum is the only thing that works for her so the Dr. said she is allergic to soy and milk. It took about 4 days or so before her symptoms went away, and she does still get gassy from time to time but what a HUGE difference it made. We also use the Dr. Brown's bottles for her, they help a ton too.

I would talk to the Dr. about it before you make the switch.

Here is some info on Alimentum:

Hope this helps :)

Call your dr!!! Blood in the poop is not something to be taken lightly, even though it does not necessarily indicate a serious problem.

But yes, similac alimentum might help with this. If your dr offers to give you free cans of the formula, take it! This stuff is SOO expensive. Also, make sure to sign up for the welcome club, they will send you free pre-mixed formula and coupons.

There are a lot of babies that have milk and soy sensitivities - I also started out with similac advance for my baby, and had to switch to alimentum.

Good luck!

I think you have to call your baby's doctor ASAP... red spots in her bowel movements are not normal...
