Usually there are some caballeros on the public Beach that will be offering horses to ride and you just go up to them. It is very casual, no reservations and no insurance and very affordable.

Have never seen horseback riding on the beach in Cancun. Cancun is world renowned for its clean beaches. You should look into cabo. In Cabo San Jose (west side of the baja peninsula) horse back riding is very common as the beach is not conducive for lots of swimming due to black flagged currents. However is Cancun is your destination and you don't mind traveling there are places you can go closer to Playa Del Carmen to do this activity it will be about a 45 minute drive from Cancun. Book through your Hotels travel and tours people or if you book through apple your apple Representative at your hotel will be able to help you by arranging for transportation for you. A cab would be a small fortune. Good Luck and have a GREAT TRIP!

Some resorts offer horseback riding....some do not. There is horseback riding tours available. Go to www.cancuntips.com and they have some information on this. I think the cost is like $60 or so. Check with the tour people at the resort if you don't find what you need here. They will be able to locate anything that you desire to do while you are there.
