In my experience, I've never known anyone who considers ignorance a source of pride -- unless you're referring to the prejudicial attitude toward gay people. In that case, much of the bias does stem from not knowing all the facts. However, I wouldn't refer to that as pride, so much as a self-righteous attitude which makes those people feel superior to others who march to a different drummer. I think it's a combination of ignorance and prejudice. A better question would be, when will it ever end? Unfortunately, our society tends to ignore prejudice and is not interested in educating the public or creating awareness that some folks are born different, and shouldn't be treated as outcasts. That applies not only to homosexuals, but to various ethnic cultures, religions and races. There are no human beings who are superior to others by reason of birth or circumstances. We are all created equal in the eyes of God. There is no pride associated with ignorance, to answer your question.

Depending on what version of "ignorance" you mean. The ignorance that simply doesn't know due to bad karma or causes and conditions that go against them isn't, but usually the other sources are self-serving... yes.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and pride is sin.
So ignorance of God is sin.
