There is nothing in place at the moment. Just workbooks and databases with old and new data. I am researching for an off the shelf package that would to store these workbooks and DBs in a system for pulling reports, maintaining current data, and adding new data.

Thanks in advance.

orlandobillybob...The system that I am looking for isn't as complicated as I might of made it seem. You are correct, the current data is in Excel and Access.

It only contains budgetary information. This is just for the department where only 20 people would have access...

Mostly for producing ad hoc reports. I see where it would be beneficial to dump it in access, but instead of creating a user interface, I was looking for something with the bells and whistles with minimal set up at the beginning.

It would be nice if it would be some type of web application.

Thanks...

There are about 1,000 different factors that go into making these kind of decisions. Let me give you one POSSIBLE answer.

Since you already have workbooks (assuming Excel) and databases (assuming Access), why not convert the workbooks into Access and run everything in Access? The database could be on a simple file server (you didn't specify current IT infrastructure) that anyone (you didn't specify number of people who need access) could access (you didn't specify number and different types of queries) the various databases. There are legal issues to consider depending on your business type like SOX404 (again, you didnt state your business).

I hope you really understand the size of the question that you are asking. It may benefit you more to run this by a few local IT consultants that are strictly fee based (hourly) to give you proper direction.

Sorry - I'm not blasting you, its just that there is no simple answer.

What's your company look like, and would it include a robust auditing system? I'd suggest that your first action would have an Accounting Program such as PeachTree Premiere and SAP/CRM solution for back-office to front-end transactions
