It will take at least a year before your period settles down and becomes regular so this is normal. You are fine. As for telling your mother you need to let her know that you have started your periods so that you can feel more comfortable talking with her about sex and personal problems should they arise. You mother should not tell anyone as I doubt she tells eveyone about her own period and she certainly shouldn't act different towards you as you are still the same person you were just growing up a little.

I was the same way.. it was scary but I just went up to my mom and asked what was wrong (I didn't know what was up because my period was so dark). She didn't really act any differently towards me.. she just gave me the girl talk about periods and sex. It's okay that you only have one every four months or so, your cycle will be irregular for a year or so until your body gets used too it. Congrats on entering womanhood!! lol

It's a natural thing, so she shouldn't act different towards you. You should tell her and at the same time ask her to keep it confidential...you shouldn't have to ask her that, but I know not all moms are perfect. If you can't tell her, then perhaps you can tell your grandma or an aunt. It's best someone knows to help you with any questions that may come up about it. Good luck!

She's a mom that's what they do...
Don't get down about it , if it was your period it is normal.
Mine was the same way. I was really confused at time too. Give your body time to adjust and it will regulate it's self....
If you do decide to talk to your mother (which would be a good idea I'm sure had the same problem) just ask her that you would not like her to tell people, that it is a personal thing and it would embarass you, I'm sure she would understand...
Good Luck!

Irregular cycle is normal when first starting your period. I started mine every 3 months until a year after my first period. After that, I was clockwork and it was a 28 cycle. If you never had sex then don't worry you are probably not pregnant. Talk to your mom about this, it probably happened to her when she was your age. About everyone else? It's none of their business.

its just your period...every woman gets one. there would be no reason for her to act different towards you...and if she tells people, then so what! they probably already know or assume it anyways since you are female and a period is inevitable.
