why is each chapter labeled first picture....second picture instead of first chapter or second chapeter?

I've read this book and in the back of mine it tells why...here is exactly what the author wrote to a boy after asking the same question.

the reason why i put pictures instead of chapter was because they are her memories and after all the book is called "Pictures of Hollis Woods"
