Talk with your doctor and see if they can refer you to someone. You can also check your local phone book. Most therapists will talk to you on the phone and see what you are dealing with and make arrangements with you or maybe refer you to a colleague they feel is better suited to help you with your issues.

Finding a cousellor isn't as easy as it seems. Finding the right fit and chemistry takes time and going to several different counselors. Be patience about it because once you find the right fit, you'll really see improvement and changed for the better.

Sounds like you need a tow-truck. Or someone to throw you a rope or a ladder. Do you want a counselor to help you stay in or land in more deep pits? Or do you want one who can help you avoid those pits? For example a transactional analyst will make a contract with you... he will counsel you if you promise to stay out of the pit. Go back into the pit and the contract is broken. Determine what you want and then find a counselor to help you have that...
