It's called William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. It's really good and funny because they speak old english but it takes place with modern things. The swords are guns and Mercutio is a cross dresser.

The movie was set in modern times with the Shakespearean language still in tact. Some of the additions to the script by way of making it new and interesting to this generation were a bit distracting, yet still creative. I wouldn't recommend it if you haven't seen or read the original play, but if you're really bored and have nothing else to watch but that, maybe you should give it a try.

It is definitely worth watching, but it might not be suited to everyone's taste. It is all done in traditional Shaksperean dialogue, which I found intriguing. Real film buffs probably laugh at it. But I'm kind of a film snob and I had a good time watching it.

It was a good updating of Shakespeare. The language remained in tact so they had to come up with some clever ideas to help in the updating (ex. a firearm company called Swords to explain why two men with drawn guns were told to "put up their swords").
The problem is that updating Shakespeare is difficult for most people to accept. "Romeo + Juliet", the updated "Hamlet", "Richard III", and "Love's Labor Lost" (which starred Nathan Lane and Alicia Silverstone) all failed at the boxoffice.

It was ok but a bit weird. Claire Danes made the movie worth watching, I would not go out and rent it again, maybe wait until they air it on HBO or showtime or whoever will air the wacky movie. The soundtrack was better than the movie.

um i watched it and it was "eh". I would rate it a B-. Everyone knows the story, so I imagine you can judge the story by yourself. I like leo in it but not the girl. It could've been better. it was kinda weird. I wouldn't watch it again.

Yes, it is good. They use Shakespearean language also, but you can understand it with what they are doing.

i thought it was bad i didnt get to see the ending but i dont reccomend seein it ...its a waste of time and they make mercutoe look gay cuz he dresses like a girl in every scene ...overall its relestupid but if u want to see it..go ahead
