Keep in mind that you are using their system. they bought it, pay for it, repair it, etc. It is not for use other than work purposes which is what you are getting paid for.

Depending on the business you are in, companies have certain requirements when it comes to security and can be held liable for any leak in sensitive information. Truthfully, the biggest threats are from the inside and while MOST employees are honest and responsible, it only takes one disgruntled employee to cause a company a multitude of headaches and lawsuits. Companies don't secure their networks because of honest people, they do it because of the dishonest people. I don't know what the specific complaint you have is, but trust me when I say that your company is doing what is has to do for the good of the company. You will just have to accept it and quit complaining. As long as you are able to do your job, that is all you need to worry about. It sounds to me like you are trying to conduct personal business from you companies computer and that is not what they bought it for.

Ah yes, but you know Maryland just passed a new law that makes it a requirement for businesses to monitor your email and any messages you send. I'm not sure if this just applies to company email and internal messages or any email or message you send from your computer. I'm not working right now, I guess I'd be in trouble if I was.

if you are using the company's time for your own personal pursuits then you are a thief, and a thief is a criminal.

They are paying you to be doing what they have assigned you to do, not lollygag and waste their time (which they are paying you for) to lazily surf the net while you're supposed to be working.

you're stealing payroll money from them if you are using their time for your own pleasure and pursuits.
