Actually, on the shuttle they often get a wide menu, as the food is nowadays dehydrated and stored, ready to be reconstituted in a special oven onboard. They have steak, strawberries, shrimp cocktail, and bananas are a favorite because you can pull back the peels almost to the end, give it a spin and a shove, and it flies through the cabin looking like a satellite with solar panels.
And, the freeze-dried ice cream, mentioned above, is actually mostly nougat, and yes it is very good!

they eat light. otherwise, they wouldn't float as easily!!
