I have a Handy trends Sewing machine I can't seem to get the needle to move. What is wrong? Is it broken?

I've tried everything. Everytime I try to sew my needle won't move up and down. HELP!!

I would look under the bed, where I think you will find thread jammed in the bobbin or just under the teeth that move the fabric through the foot. This happens to me rather more often than it should on a 1950's Necchi.
