My husband and I are TTC... I have a bicornuate uterus and I know that I can still concieve... I keep hearing everyone talk about taking folic acid while trying to concieve, Does this increase the odds? And what about the prenatals? I know its important to take them to have all the nutrients and what not but I tried taking those and they created a whole line of problems for me such as a terrible yeast infection...(every girl hates those) so does folic acid help and what to do about the prenatals?

Folic acid helps a fetus develop, and is good for preventing spina bifida.
It does not help with conception I am afraid.

Folic Acid is more for the unborn or soon to be unborn baby. Folic Acid protects the fetus from developing spina bifida. Which occurs during the first five weeks of pregnancy. So if you are TTC, folic acid will help your babys chance of not having spina bifida. So its a good idea to take folic acid. If you are vitamin deprieved or trying TTC or are pregnant you should take a prenantal vitamin. However prenantal vitamins do not increase your chance of conceiving. Taking the vitamin is a health benefit for you and your baby when you do conceive. ALl women of childbearing years should take folic acid and a prenantal vitamin. Hope I answered your question.

Prenatal vitamines have a good dose of folic acid that doesnt' require an additional dosage. I got terribly sick taking prenatals my first time around and had to switch brands a few times. I found one that finally stayed down and didn't cramp me up and it's called "Orfer-F Prenatal Vitamines" they are small pink pills that are very easy to swallow. You should be taking prenatal vitamines when your TTC I think if you talked to your doc he'd tell you the same. My OB/GYN suggested I take prenatals while I was TTC, but more for nutrition then any aid to the TTC process itself.

Taking folic acid whil TTC will help improve the health of the baby. Talk to your DR about trying a differnet prenatal.

those women all provided great advice! i'm going to easily upload my 2 cents; take the aspirin and the better folic acid. I take the two for my IVF cycles. the toddler or low dose aspirin is to help with blood circulate via preserving placental blood vessels open and stable blood circulate to the ovarian follicles to help your physique make extra healthy eggs. That’s a stable sufficient reason in itself for me! yet one extra reason i could throw interior the low dose aspirin, whether no longer on your protocol, is by way of the fact in case you haven't any longer had any immune attempting out (My wager) and you do no longer understand in case you have organic killer cells (NKC), Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), MTHFR, or different clotting matters. The aspirin seems after those and your danger of miscarrying isn't virtually as intense. i can even throw some fish oil interior the blend to help decrease the possibility of NKC’s. preserving all issues crossed for you!

I tried it because I heard the same thing, but for me it did not work. I have a friend she says it helped her and that is why she got pregnant. Eat healthy take vitamins and in the end it should work out if nothing happens consult your OBGYN. They do have fertility drugs that can be used such as Clomid.
