My mother in law is the smelliest person you could ever have the displeasure of whiffing,she stinks so bad that she never has to wait in a queue because nobody can stand the stench that long,on the other hand shes the most generous person ive ever met and she hasnt got a bad word to say about anyone.what can i do?

Take her in your car to a car wash, and open all the windows, no hurtful words, and your car should be clean to. Sorry I dont know.

I think it would be easier if it came from your wife, her own daughter. She SHOULD really do something about it.
But maybe you don't dare tell her either?
In that case, buy a complete basket of soap and shower gel, as well as the nicest perfume and very nicely either say or write it to her that this smelled so lovely that it reminded her of the loveliest and kindest person.
That you just love the smell of it.
If she would humour you and use it so that you see if it suit her?
Well, you will have tried.
And if it doesn't work, TELL your wife, and if she doesn't dare, then TELL the poor woman, that you heard some people make some nasty comments about her, that she stinks....
I'm sure that you'll get her thinking and hopefully react to that!

Tell her you want to buy you wife some perfume thats different and what does she think is the best option. And that way you can buy it for her instead and when she asks you can just say it was ur way of finding out exactly wot it is that she likes.
Otherwise i think its upto your wife to approach her mum about her hygeine not you it would be more embarrising coming from you rather than your wife.
If none of these work dab some aftershave under your nose before ur around her. Sorry...............

Just buy her some Bath products ,but make sure its like something that really smells good. Try to make it out of a gift for her try saying I gave my mother the same thing.

Drop into the conversation an example of a friend that has this same problem and what the solution was (e.g. doctors, washing, etc). Although it will be a thinly veiled hint, she should get the message without being offended.She may even think its her own idea....

any chance you could buy her some nice gift sets that include the soaps, bath crystals or bath oil beads? like a birthday present or get a great big set for mothers day along with some perfume YOU can tolerate after the rest doesn't work...

Unfortunately, you may just have to put up with it. There is no way of telling what she will do after you tell her, it depends on the person. Or you could get a little kid to go tell her. She can't do much to a kid.
That might sound cruel, but it works..

depending on her age pay for her to go to a health spa or somewhere relaxing where she can relax in water, get massaged and feel like a woman again. he she alone? because she could be depressed. or if she is an elderly lady her senses may be getting weaker. treat her anyhow as she sounds like a wonderful lady!! good luck.x Oh and talk to your wife about this.

Maybe buying her a gift package of an assortment of luxury soaps, shampoos & conditioners with lotion. And hint at her that you can't wait to see how pretty it could make her smell.
There really is no way around it but to say something to your spouse and have them aproach her.

Just say I love you dearly and that's why I have to tell you that you need to take more care in your body hygiene. Tell me what bath scent you love the most and I will go buy you some only if you can promise me you will bathe in it every night.

if you bought her smellies for Christmas, ask her if she has used them yet...and if she says no then ask her to so you can smell what it's like on her, then tell her each time you see her that the scent she wore is nice and to wear it again because it's your favourite, there, that's one way of getting her to smell nice without hurting her feelings
