I'm a teacher and at my school it is up to the teacher to decide if gum may be chewed in the classroom. I allow it until someone blows bubbles, cracks or sticks it on the furniture. No one wants gum stuck to their clothing.

Hats are not allowed since they hide your face. Students have also been know to write answers on the hats during testing time. My rule against hats is horseplay. There is always someone trying to take someone hat and it just causes a disturbance.
