No! Don't worry about it. Teens have a LOT of stress now and they can take it out on parents and siblings, so don't worry about it. It's normal and they don't mean it.

No way, all kids say they hate their parents when they get into it. I mean it is the one thing they think will really bother us. I have 6 kids and they have all said it at one time. My answer to them is, "Gee, that must have been really hard for you to say" I get an I am really sorry mom about 5 to 10 minutes later. The ones where the kids lock themselves in their rooms are my favorate. It is like they put themselves on restriction.HAHA I wonder how many kids have ever thought of that? Your teen loves you they are just using the limited verbal vocabulary they may have and are not able to support a battle of brain power over mom or dad. So, just tell them how hard that must have been to say such a horible thing and let them know that you understand they really did not mean it. It takes the power of those words completly away.
Good luck

In the heat of the moment everyone hates someone they might be fighting with. It's so hard being a teen. But it's also hard being the parent of a teen. I remember hating my parents back in the day.

Yes, they mean it when they say it. But the feeling is probably fleeting. Hormones are crazy and you know you don't have to be a teen to say something that you will later regret or not even identify with bc the circumstances or feelings are gone.
Don't take it to heart, just help them understand themselves, their feelings, and whatever the consequences or reasons that are making them think they hate you (ie can't go to the coolest party in the world) plus sometimes some things are learned over time.

No! I told my mother I hated her when I was a teen, And now, I wish I could take it back. It's usually something said out of anger, And meant to hurt the parent.

It depends on the teen. Most of the time when it is just a regular argument no we don't mean it(well they since I've never told my mom I hate her). But sometimes when there are serious problems involved like abuse they could mean it.

No, we have probably all said or thought that in some time. It's in the moment, that moment they can't have what they want, go where they want to go or they just don't act right, whatever. It goes away and there is probably not many people out there that really do hate there parents. I sure don't.

sort of...they really do love their parents, deep down and they need them too! the problem is, is that teens want to be treated and act like adults, accept they arent mature enough to handle the responsibilities yet...they basically want their parents when its convinient to them...and even thought they may "hate" the rules, and the lectures and the family meeting, they dont "hate" their parents! well, unless the parents are abusive ********!!!!! but besides that, it is just a sort way of saying " you suck, why can't i have everything go MY way, leave me alone!!!!!" trust me, this is coming from a 17 year old!!!

OK I'm a teenager. I have serious problems with my parents, and I say i hate them all the time. I never mean it. I don't know what I would do if I lost one of them. I don't see my dad alot, but when I do we fight. We don't mean it, we just want tour parents to give in to us. :)
