I'm from the US. If could change ONE thing, I'd probably legalize cannabis for medicinal and recreational purposes. The profits and taxes from cannabis sales would be very useful, and the criminals who sell cannabis would lose a very large profit base. The courts and police could use the resources wasted on arresting and jailing cannabis users/dealers to fight real crime, like murder and rape.

I would revise the tax code. My emphasis would be on taking money away from congress and national special interest groups and giving it back to the states. It would make congress more honest and keep out the criminal elements.
I would permanently cut taxes to across the board 7%, and everyone would pay the same percentage whether they made $500 or $500,000,000.
I would quit taking dollars from Alaska and giving it to North Carolina (using an example) and let states keep their money and fund all programs. Then states can compete for residents and businesses on the basis of their own policies concerning benefits or lack thereof. States would fund their own schools and allow hospitals to make their own policies regarding the treatment or non-treatment of illegal immigrants. Then, if enough citizens doesn't like the policies and move, the state would have to very quickly adjust or lose so many residents that they would fail financially. I wouldn't bail out the state, I'd charge the governor with a crime and let the people sort it out. Just like America used to do!!!

If I was in charge of the Country for one Day, I would check every part of the Government and find out what parts of the Government we could take care of ourselves without!! I would also find a way to take care of the Country with Parts of the Government that are useful but without so many people to run them! I would find a way to save the Money the Government has to use to Help The People of the Country more and not spend or send as much to the rest of the World. To Help the World, you must First Take Care of Yourself and The People Who Put You There!!!!

If I were to be I would not choose a country but rather a Continent I guess, and that would be Africa (is that a continent) and an Immediate thing I would do would be to give the people of Africa a good education. The best money can buy, so yes I know I didn't say stop the hunger, but I say this because I think if the people of Africa got a good education then not only could they find a way to irrigate their lands or something much better, then maybe perhaps they could find out other stuff like how to stop global warming, how not to melt the polar ice caps, and so forth.

I would call for a referendum ridding our country of Congress and consolidate power in one Branch of government responsible for enforcing the constitution.

free health care to everybody. it is so stupid that pharmecutical companies make so much money off the pain and suffering of sick people. people need medication to survive and they jack up prices on prescriptions so they can fatten their pockets.
hospitals shouldnt be express lanes to morgues.

oh, how could i chose, there are so many issues, I would probably have to research things more and see what needs to be corrected immediately- it would definitely have to do with immediate relief of the people though
