A title of sex offender can cover a range of wrongdoings. Take the cases of young men dating 16 yr old girls, they lie about their age then run at the first sign of getting in trouble. Who is left holding the bag? their lives are ruined, not because they are perverted but because they were deceived in the first place. If this is a first time offence and the "victim" lied, yes they should be pardoned. The victim should be punished as she was not a victim to start with. If this is a known sex offender then all the evidence needs to be weighed. We don't want them in the general public.

Without a doubt! If there is evidence (basically no evidence) that proves this person didn't do it then yes. Especially if the so called victim actually lied. If it's an adult, he/she should serve time for lying and putting an innocent person in jail. There are cases where women and children have lied about this, unfortunately we have to have standards so as not to let the actual criminals walk. It seems though that common sense has been eradicated from our justice system and political correctness has taken it's place.

Absolutely! Not only should they get a pardon, but an article needs to run in the paper explaining why (s)he is pardoned, and should make the false acuser just as publicly humiliated. There is no excuse for false allegations.

If the evidence indicates the "offender" did not commit a crime, they should get all the charges revoked, not forgiven (as in a pardon).

Even if they get a pardon...if it gets out that they were brought up on charges...everyone will still think of them as a sex offender and still keep away from them.

I believe that ANYONE who wrongly accuses someone of such a horrible crime should be punshed BIG TIME!!! If wrongly accused (which does happen the person wrongly accused should get pardoned but hard to do.

It should at the very least be looked into. Lying under oath is a felony, and if someone went to prison for someone elses lies, then it really needs to be looked at quickly!

Uh . . . considering the charge is then a LIE, yes, and the accuser should be held to account for lying.
